After a nice break last week we are back in action this week at the Zurich Championship which is quickly becoming one of the better stops of the PGA Tour. Zurich has really stepped up and become one of the elite sponsors on the tour and the event is reflecting it. It in now right up there with Wachovia Championship, or should I say Quail Hollow Championship and RBC Canadian Open. It seems when the sponsors really get involved with their own tournament, as a showcase, the event really benefits. Tournament director here Tommy Fonseca has taken this event from a middle of the road event to one of the better ones and the field is getting better year after year. He has done a great job at making this event more than just a golf tournament but a place for people to come eat some great food, watch some great bands, and watch some golf.
The golf course is in incredible shape and playing very firm and fast. With great weather predicted all week look for the course to only get firmer and faster as the week goes on. I think in a time when companies are really cutting back and pulling sponsorships from sporting events Mr. Shero and Zurich really deserve a lot of credit for supporting this event in New Orleans as it gives so much back to the ForeKids Foundation. One thing people don't realize is that all the PGA Tour events are non profit and that profits are given to local charities.
On Monday myself, Mike, and Steve Stricker went fishing here in Lafitte, LA for redfish. It was a great day as we were out there for 6 hours or so had some great success. I will include a few photos here for everyone to see but the fishing was great and was a lot of fun. It was even better that I caught the most and biggest fish!! Our captain was a great guide and really gave us a good history lesson as we chatted throughout the day, just hearing stories about the hurricane and how everyone reacted was very interesting. All in all, it was a great day and now we are ready for some great golf.
As always thanks for your support,
Brennan
