Will and Desire

Tue, 31 May 2011 12:15:52

Many people in sport talk about the topic of Will and Desire. Unfortunately, these words are not often defined nor described. I believe that one's will to perform is at the center of one's ability to perform. If an athlete does not have the desire to get better then he/she will not get better in all probability. Therefore, it all stars with intent to improve.

The next step is to develop a means to improve. I believe this starts with a renewed love of the game. Why do you play? What are your greatest satisfactions when playing golf? How do you feel on the golf course most of the time? What are your greatest moments like when you are golfing?

By answering these questions you can open the door to repeatedly starting every round with a purpose in mind. Many times we start to play sports for the right reasons and we then stay in them for the wrong reasons. Revisit your initial dreams and reasons for starting this wonderful sport and most likely this will rekindle old memories that served a useful purpose in developing your love of the game.

Until next time. Enjoy your golf,
