2007 US Open - Round 4
Fri, 27 Feb 2009 01:31:31

Today was a tough one at the U.S. Open. It
was the hardest day of the four, as you'd expect for a Sunday, and
once again, my driver wasn't as consistent as I would like and that
put me in a number of difficult situations.
Still, when I look at my day, I was happy
that I managed to grab a couple of late birdies on 16 and 17. I
would have liked to have had one more on 18, but that hole played
tough for me all week.
At the end of the week, I can look back and
realize that I did make some progress in parts of my game, notably
my putting. This was the first week going back to my old putting
stance and I felt good about it. As the week went on, I started to
see the ball go in the hole, which is really something when you
consider just how difficult the greens are at Oakmont. I hope to
build on that.
But again, it was my driving that was the
weak part of my game. As I've mentioned before, it's been one of
the strongest parts of my game this year but for some reason, I'm
struggling with it right now.
My plans for the next little while (in
addition to working on that driver) are to host my charity event
for my foundation and the Children's Miracle Network next Monday in
London, Ont., and then play the new event in Washington before
heading over to the British Open at Carnoustie. I'm looking forward
to that event and I'm sure the course won't be quite as nasty as it
was in 1999 when it became almost unplayable. It's a great layout
and it should be a great challenge.
As always, thanks for your support.
Mike
