Mike's Blog - RBC Canadian Open Day 1

Today was an exceptionally long day at the RBC Canadian Open. It felt a little bit like the U.S. Open all over again. I got up at 4:30AM to prepare for my round and I managed to get three holes in before the pouring rain forced a stop in play. Little did I know that we wouldn't get back on the course until after four o'clock in the afternoon.
If you've been out on the Tour long enough, you learn to deal with days like today. They can be tiring and wearing, but there's nothing you can really do. You just have to deal with it. I hung out in the clubhouse, ate some good food, stretched and talked with the guys and ate some more (the food is good here!).
Once I got back on the course, I made a few good birdies. I made one at 16, then rolled off three in a row on 18, one and two. However, I gave some of those back coming in. To be honest, I never really felt as if I was in a good rhythm out there. I was sort of fighting it most of the day. The course was also really soft and as the day went on the greens had a lot of footprints in them and the poa annua grass got bumpy. I just didn't get settled like I wanted.
Tomorrow will be another long day but at the very least, I'll be at home for most of it. I probably won't tee off until late in the day or early evening. I just hope that the weather is good, not only for my round but more importantly for the tournament. It would be great to see Glen Abbey filled with fans all ready to cheer on the Canadians and all of the great golfers out here.
Now, off to get some rest.
As always, thanks for your support.
Mike
