Coming into last week I had some momentum after my top ten finish at Bridgestone and I was looking forward to competing in the fourth and final major on our schedule. Unfortunately I could not get my putter working which made it rather difficult to pick up any position in the field.
I'd like to send out a thank you to the two groups of fans who made the trip to Minnesota from Winnipeg and Saskatchewan. It was very inspirational to see these guys out on the course wearing their team Canada jerseys and hockey helmets in the thirty degree weather. I am very appreciative of my strong, passionate fan base and this was definitely special, especially being in Minnesota. It's too bad that I was unable to play through the weekend, but I ended up giving one of them my putter. Hopefully they will have more luck with it than I did.
On August 24th I will be participating in the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge for the second straight year at the Atunyote Golf Club in Verona, New York. This year I will be playing alongside fellow PGA Tour golfers Tiger Woods, Camilo Villegas, and Notah Begay III. I look forward to helping make this event a success and raising money for Notah's foundation. To view more information please visit the website at www.notah.com/NB3Challenge.aspx.
August also marks my annual charity event, the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids which is being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 30th and 31st. After the conclusion of the Barclay's I will be arriving in Halifax for some Maritime hospitality. All monies raised will be helping Children in the Maritimes through the IWK Health Centre and the Children's Miracle Network. More information is available through www.mikeweirmiraclegolfdrive.ca.
I'm also honoured to be able to represent Canada at this year's President's Cup team and hope that this year's group of guys will be able to put together quite a run. I will try to keep everyone updated on my progress as I go through this busy stretch of the year.
As always, thanks for the support
Mike
