Mike's Blog - Order of Canada

It was great to finish off my second last event of the year with a final round of 61 at the Frys.com Open a few weeks back.  It was one of those rounds where everything came together and it felt great to post a low score, especially after what has felt like a long season.  I am thankful that I have a break in my schedule right now to be able to spend time with my family and give myself a little break from golf.

Receiving the Order of Canada last week was a very special event for me and my family.  I was felt honored to receive it and one of the things that I enjoyed the most was having the opportunity to meet the other recipients and to learn about their past success and contributions.  It was certainly an honour to be recognized amongst some of these great individuals.

During my trip to Canada, I was also able to look at a at golf course opportunity with Ian Andrew.  We spent an entire day on the course and drew up a number of potential plans.  The way the course is laid out allowed for a lot of creativity and we started throwing out some great ideas as the day progressed.   I'm excited to revisit the drawing board as we move forward.

I'm back home for the next few weeks until I head back to my home time of Bright's Grove later this month for my induction into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.  It is an honour to be recognized however I do feel like I have a lot of golf still left to play at this stage of my career!

The first week of December I will tee it up at Tiger's event, the Chevron World Challenge.  This will be the last event that I play this year and it's a perfect way to cap off my season.  There are a lot of great players in the field and I am looking forward to the event.

As always, thanks for the support,
Mike
