WGC-CA Championship

This week, I've been competing at the WGC CA Championship at Doral. The start of the week has been tough with some tough weather conditions but the weekend looks promising. I've been playing well of late and am generally pleased with the state of my game. I spent a lot of time in the off-season working with Mike Wilson and it's nice to see the hard work we've been putting in start to payoff. When I went back to Mike about a year ago, we returned to a lot of the things I had in my swing previously. But we also added some new stuff that's helped. I think as a golfer - whether a PGA Tour pro or a weekend player - you have to always try to look for new things and methods that will help your game. So Mike and I did that and I'm really happy with where my swing is right now.

One of the changes I made this year is in equipment. Although I've toyed with different putters over the years, I've basically used the same model for some time. But this year, I'm trying something new. Well, new and old. I'm actually using a model that is a replica of one I used as a kid. I had Scotty Cameron make it up for me and it's been really working well. The first time I put it into play was at the Match Play and I made nine birdies in my first 10 holes. Overall, I've really been happy with how I'm rolling it and for the first time in a while, I'm seeing some longer putts go in. I can tell, those are really nice to see.

Right now, of course, I'm starting to prepare for the Masters. Like many players, I try to gear up for the four majors and having won at the Masters, I'm always excited for that one. That's not to say that the tournaments I'll play between now and then aren't important, just that the majors are just that much bigger and so we all want to win them. For that reason, I'm gearing a lot of my practice and training around preparation for Augusta.

Like a lot of Canadians I was thrilled to see the Olympics in Vancouver. I took my family up there to see the Games and was really impressed with the job the city did and with how Canada seemed to really come together. I attended some figure skating and, of course, some hockey including the gold medal game. I can tell you that it was easily the most exciting sporting event I've ever been a part of. The arena was electric, the atmosphere amazing. I think all of Canada was sitting on the edge of their seat watching that one and when Sidney Crosby popped that overtime winner, it was something I'll never forget.

As always, thanks for your support.
