The 2010 Masters - Day 3

I know that whenever you play Augusta National there is a fine line between a great round and a good one. The margin for error around here is razor thin.
On Saturday, I was on the wrong side of that. I just didn't play well, plain and simple. If you're not playing well here, you can only hang on for so long. Pretty soon, it will catch up to you and that's what happened. I just seemed to get above the hole a lot and when that happens, making putts is nearly impossible.
A good example was 16. I hit a tee shot that just missed the green, coming to rest between the bunkers on the fringe to the right of the green. I decided to chip the ball but I had to be careful as the pin was right on a slope. The chip went the way I wanted but the ball really landed soft in the fringe and stayed there-I thought it would roll out. My next putt was a shade too strong and went over the edge and down to the bottom tier. I ended up with a double bogey.
Overall, I just played terrible today. That's an honest assessment. It's not the way you want to finish up certainly, coming in as I did. But Sunday is another day to go out to the course and try to start something new. I'll just try to play as well as I can and maybe find a little magic.
Thanks for your support!!!
Mike
