U.S. Open Final

The only thing I can say about my U.S. Open experience is that it's over. As I'm sure you might guess, I didn't have a very good week at Pebble Beach. Primarily, I didn't drive the ball well and when you aren't doing that at a U.S. Open, it can make for a long week. It was for me.
Even on Thursday when I played so well, I really wasn't hitting as I wanted to. My short game was working well and putted well and that kept me in there, but the rest of the week, I don't think I made any sort of putt over three or four feet.
I'll keep working on the things that Mike Wilson and I have identified in my swing and keep trying to get better. I know it will take some time but I also know that I'm on the right track, and things will start to get better soon. I'm already seeing signs.
After my round yesterday, I flew up to Victoria for this year's Telus Skins Game, an annual event that I really enjoy. After the stress of a major championship, it's fun to play two days of golf where you can have some laughs and interact with the crowd, especially at home in Canada. And we have a good group of players this year with Retief Goosen, Ian Poulter, Camilo Villegas and Freddy Couples.
Whether you're watching at Bear Mountain or on TSN, I think you'll see some good golf and a different side of the golfers.
After the Telus Skins, I'm heading home for a day and then it's off for a family vacation in Italy for three weeks. This is a big year for our family - my parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, my brother Jim is turning 50 and my wife and I are both turning 40 so we decided to take everyone on a trip. I'm looking forward to spending some time with my family, which I don't get to do often enough. Most of the time I see them it's at a tournament and I'm working hard on my game. This time it will be great to just be with everyone. Of course there will be some wine tasting too!
And yes, I'll be taking my clubs with me and doing some work on my game while I'm over there in preparation for my next event, the British Open.
As always, thanks for your support.
Mike
