RBC Canadian Open Round 2

Fri, 23 Jul 2010 22:52:10

This wasn't the way I wanted to be leaving the RBC Canadian Open -- missing the cut and not playing very well - but that's what happened. Friday was similar to Thursday in that I didn't hit enough fairways. This week at St. George's, you simply have to put it in the fairway if you want to score and I only hit the short grass five times in each of my two rounds.

My arm soreness wasn't really a factor. Yes it did hurt a bit trying to hit it out of the rough. And it certainly limited the amount of practicing I could do so consequently I wasn't able to prepare as I normally would. With my three weeks off before the British, that didn't help as I think I was a bit rusty. But really, those aren't excuses. I just didn't play well this week.

Right now, I'm at a point in my game where things aren't going well. It hasn't been a good year and no one knows that more than me. No one out here is immune to going through a bad stretch - we all struggle from time to time. But the only thing you can do is keep fighting, keep working hard. I'll go home and take a few days off and rest my arm, and then get back at it.

I want to thank all the fans this week who came out to cheer me and all the other Canadians. I could really feel their support every step of the way around St. George's and I wish I could have played better for them. I was trying as hard as I could but it just didn't work out.

As always, thanks for your support!
