Canadian Tours Panama Open Second Round Highlights

"CORONADO BEACH, PANAMA--Mario Tiziani may have a well-known relative playing on the PGA Tour, but the 31-year-old is making quite a name for himself following Friday's second round of the Canadian Tour's $337,500 (Cdn) Panasonic Panama Open.

Tiziani, the brother in law of PGA veteran Steve Stricker, carded his second straight 5-under 67 at Coronado Beach Resort and is now at 10-under through 36 holes, one shot better than fellow Canadian Tour member Patrick Moore (Cornelius, NC).

Six others are tied in third spot, four shots off the pace. Darren Griff of Salt Spring Island, BC is the top Canadian at 3-under 141.

The Canadian Tour's first tournament of the season is a co-sanctioned event that features the top 40 players from the 2001 Order of Merit, 40 other professionals from around the world as well as four amateurs. While prize money will not be factored into the 2002 Canadian Tour official earnings, the winner will still collect a $60,000 Cdn ($40,000 US) cheque when play wraps up Sunday.

Defending champion Steve Runge is at 8-over after Friday's 78.
