Lorie Kane to Receive Honorary Degree

"LPGA pro and Prince Edward Island native Lorie Kane will be one of four individuals receiving honorary degrees during upcoming ceremonies at the University of Prince Edward Island. The Senate of the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) has selected the recipients of honorary degrees to be conferred for the 2001-2002 academic year and with increased enrollment and a number of new programs at the University, there will be two convocations on May 11, 2002. Two honorary degrees will be awarded at each ceremony. Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin, the first woman to serve as Chief Justice of Canada, and Kane will receive the distinction at the morning convocation and Stompin' Tom Connors and Alistair MacLeod in the afternoon.
