"The mission of the Bank of Montreal Future Links program and licensed facilities is to make golf more affordable and accessible to juniors, " said Jack McClellan, RCGA Managing Director, Golf Operations. "We are excited and honoured that Legends on the Niagara has signed on to help us achieve this goal by becoming a Future Links Licensed Facility. Their Head Teaching Pro, Cathy Sherk, has been a tremendous supporter of junior golf development and I`m confident that we will achieve great success working together. "
"We are very excited about the new relationship between Legends on the Niagara and the Royal Canadian Golf Association," said Cathy Sherk. "I have always been proud of my junior golf programs and I am delighted our centre has been selected as a Future Links Licensed Facility."
Located five minutes south of the Falls on the Niagara Parkway, Legends on the Niagara is a world class golf facility featuring two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Doug Carrick and Thomas McBroom. The facility also includes a 9-hole short course, Canada's only 360-degree driving range, a championship "firing range", 18-hole natural grass putting course and a spectacular 35,000 square foot clubhouse. Rounding out the group are the Intergolf Golf Centre in Granby, Quebec, Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria, B.C., the Waterloo Golf Academy in Waterloo, Ont. and Legends on the Niagara. The RCGA plans to designate additional licensed facilities in Newfoundland, P.E.I, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan later this year.
Bank of Montreal Future Links is administered by the RCGA in conjunction with the Canadian PGA and Canada`s provincial golf associations. The national junior development program consists of a multi-level instruction program, clinics, camps, support materials and special programs to raise awareness of junior golf and address the issues of accessibility and affordability. More than 122,000 youngsters have been introduced to the game for the first time through Future Links initiatives since the inception of the program.
