The 17-year-old had a bogey free round going until his second shot on the par 5, 18th hole found the pond adjacent to the green. The bogey that resulted proved to be the only blemish on an otherwise solid round. ""I wanted to play conservatively and within myself,"" explained Revell. ""I learned a lot from playing in the final group with J.C. (Deacon) at last year's Junior, he played smart and always kept it in play.""
18-year-old Richard Scott began the day tied for the lead with Revell. Unfortunately for the Kingsville native, he was on the wrong end of a five stroke swing. Revell now leads Scott and Robbie Greenwell of Georgetown by five shots.
Greenwell, 16, followed up his second round 68 with an even-par 72 today. In doing so, he gained sole possession of first place in the Juvenile Division (16 & under).
Wendell Touhey of Ottawa posted the low score of the third round. The 16-year-old jumped 52 spots from 74th to 22nd after carding a three-under 69 today.
The top four competitors will be selected to represent Ontario at the Canadian Inter-Provincial Championships on August 5th and 6th in Saskatoon. Presently, Revell, Scott, Greenwell and Joshua Dean of Richmond Hill are the leading candidates. Dean responded with a one under 71 today, after posting consecutive 72's to open the tourney.
Sutton Creek G&CC stretches to nearly 6,600 yards and plays to a par 72 for the championship. In response to the extremely high temperatures throughout southwestern Ontario, GAO Tournament officials agreed yesterday to split the remaining field of 80 golfers and start them off both the 1st and 10th tees for today's third round and if necessary tomorrow's final round.
