"Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que. - Canada's top women golfers are hoping for a win on home turf. Gail Graham, A.J. Eathorne, Dawn Coe-Jones and Angela Buzminski have all confirmed their intention to play the 2002 Bank of Montreal Canadian Women's Open.

They will join fellow Canadian Lorie Kane at Summerlea Golf & Country Club, near Montreal, August 12-18 for Canada's only LPGA Tour event. No Canadian has won an LPGA event in Canada since Jocelyne Bourassa's dramatic 1973 La Canadienne victory at the City of Montreal Golf Club.

"It's a really special feeling for us to play at home," said Gail Graham, LPGA tour player and current president of the LPGA Executive Committee. "The Canadian fans have always supported this tournament and the players so strongly; we feed off their energy. Of course to win at home would be a dream come true for any of us."

"We are proud to have such an impressive Canadian field for our national open championship," said Michael Taylor. "In addition to these top Canadians on the LPGA Tour we will have the winners of the four Bank of Montreal Canadian Women's Tour events, plus the leaders from the Order of Merit.

B.C. natives Gail Graham and Dawn Coe-Jones are Canadian veterans on tour, with close to 30 years LPGA experience, five wins and over $4 million in earnings between them. A.J. Eathorne of Penticton, B.C. has been one of the fastest-rising stars since joining the LPGA Tour in 1999. She drew the attention of the golf world last year after firing a season-low 67 to lead the field in the opening round of the U.S. Women's Open. Rookie Angela Buzminski of Oshawa, Ontario has the distinction of being the only left-hander on the LPGA Tour. In 2001, she won three Futures Tour events, finishing second on the money list and earning exempt status for the 2002 LPGA Tour season.

Tickets for the Bank of Montreal Canadian Women's Open are available now by calling 1-866-571-LPGA (5742) or online at www.bmogolf.com.
