The co-leader after the second round, Matthew was relieved to retain her position on top.
"I'm quite happy to be in the lead," said Matthew. "There are a lot of good players just kind of lurking behind me; I'm sure someone will go out and shoot a good score. It's just nice being in the lead and hopefully I can stay there."
Hot on Matthew's heels are Meg Mallon at 5-under, and Michelle Ellis, Se Ri Pak and Gloria Park tied at 3-under.
Mallon shot three-under today to land in second place. With nine come-from behind wins in her 13 Tour victories, including Canada's LPGA event in 2000, she is well positioned for a second Canadian title.
"It's really nice to be back," said Mallon. "I'm glad the tournament was back up in this area; I love Montreal. I have dear friends that have lived here for a long time, so it's been a nice week relaxing and enjoying visiting with them. It feels like home a bit."
The three Canadians left in the field fared well today; Lorie Kane and Dawn Coe Jones shot 2-under to move Kane into a tie for 23rd with 3-over 219, and Coe-Jones into T29th with five-over 221. Angela Buzminski was +3 today, bringing her three round total to 10-over 226, tied for 63rd.
