Isabelle Beisiegel (St. Hilaire, Que.), Lanie Cahill (Brockville, Ont.), Liz Earley (St. Catharines, Ont.), Heather Lee (Edmonton, Alta.), Salimah Mussani (Burlington, Ont.) and Heather Wilbur (Moncton, N.B.) are among 140 hopefuls teeing it up October 8-11 at The Legends Course at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.
They join fellow Canadians Angela Buzminski, A.J. Eathorne, Nancy Harvey and Tina Tombs in vying for the exempt status awarded to the top 23 golfers. The next 35 players and ties will receive conditional / non-exempt cards for the 2003 season.
More than 300 golfers competed in two LPGA sectional tournaments to gain entry into this final qualifying event. The Florida qualifier was won by Quebec native Isabelle Beisiegel, winner of two Bank of Montreal Canadian Women's Tour events this season, and the 2002 Order of Merit leader. Mussani also qualified at the Florida event, while Cahill, Earley, Lee and Wilbur earned spots through the western qualifier, held in Indio, California.
