"DANA POINT, Calif. - Lorie Kane and Janice Moodie successfully defended their title with a 3&2 win over four-time Hyundai Team Matches champions Dottie Pepper and Juli Inkster in the final match of the Hyundai Team Matches in Dana Point, Calif.

Inkster and Pepper won the first hole, but Kane and Moodie quickly evened the match with a win on the second hole. Kane and Moodie continued to increase their lead with wins on holes four, six, seven and eight to make the turn at 4 up. However, the tides seemed to be turning on the back-nine when the team of Pepper and Inkster rebounded with a win on 11, but Kane and Moodie answered back on 12 to move the match back to 4 up. Pepper/Inkster won hole 13, but the match stayed firmly in the hands of Kane and Moodie until the match came to a close on the 16th hole.

""It's been a great week coming back here with Lorie,"" said Moodie. ""It's a nice tournament and a fun, fun event for the LPGA Tour and all the tours.""

Moodie and Kane head to the ADT Championship at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Fla., next week to join the other top 30 players on the LPGA Tour for the season-ending tournament.

""Next week we are going to play one of the toughest courses on our schedule, other than probably the U.S. Open,"" Kane said. ""We have shots here that are similar to those at Trump International. Anytime you play well and have success, its good for your game. Team competition is something we don't get to play much, but last year I did myself well by picking Janice.""

In the semifinals, Kane and Moodie defeated Grace Park and Beth Bauer 4&3, while Pepper and Inkster defeated Laura Diaz and Heather Bowie 2&1. In the LPGA consolation match, the team of Park and Bauer defeated Diaz and Bowie after Bauer birdied the 19th hole.

Rich Beem and Peter Lonard defeated defending champions Fred Couples and Mark Calcavecchia in the PGA Tour matches 2&1. Allan Doyle and Dana Quigley successfully defended their title to claim the Champions Tour matches 2&1. The winning teams each earned $200,000 ($100,000 each player) plus a 2003 Hyundai XC350."
