Mike Report Day Two of The PGA Championship

With the way this course is playing, it's very important to be able to get the ball up-and-down and some of them are going to have to be creative up-and-downs, too.
I sort of kick-started my round on my sixth hole, the par-3, 15th. On the previous hole, I was just over the green and thought I had a good chance to hole my chip or at least get it very close. But I got a little aggressive with it and ran it seven feet passed and missed the putt. Then I hit my tee shot on the 15th into a horrible lie and ended up holing it for a birdie -my third chip-in in two days. It's strange how things work like that. Anyway, that got me going a bit and I played pretty well for the rest of the day.
I did have a couple of blips coming in. On the eighth, after a great drive, I tried to hit a high nine into that hole and a gust of wind knocked it down short of the green. I hit a great chip to about six feet but missed the putt. On the ninth I missed the fairway which you simply can't do out here. It's so penal and when you hit it in that stuff, you're scrambling for par or even bogey. That's really going to be the story for the weekend. I've got to keep it in the fairway and keep on giving myself a chance to get it on the greens. If you're on the fairway, you have some opportunities.
The course today was really difficult. And it was very different on Friday than Thursday. The greens were starting to firm up and not holding as much. The putting became more difficult and the wind was also a factor. We had a tough time picking clubs because it was kind of swirling around. Add that all up and you can understand why the scores are the way they are.
Although I'm in good position, right now, I'm not looking any further than my first tee shot on Saturday. There's still a ton of guys in this tournament; even the guys at three, four or five over can put up a two or three under and get right back into it. We're only half-way through and there's too much golf to be played to think of anything other than Saturday. All I'm worried about is trying to go out and stay positive.
Thanks for all your support.
