Rain forces officials into Monday finish for RBC Canadian Open

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The RBC Canadian Open is going to need at least one more day to crown a champion.

Tournament director Bill Paul says that officials are now planning for a Monday finish after enduring yet another long rain delay at Glen Abbey on Sunday.

Paul indicated that he's still hoping the event can be contested over 72 holes.

The last time the Canadian Open finished on a Monday was 1988, when Ken Green registered a one-shot victory in what Paul referred to as an "anti-climactic" ending because there were so few people there to see it.

Jason Dufner had a one-shot lead over Anthony Kim and Jerry Kelly when play was halted on Sunday morning. He had completed six holes of his third round and was 14-under for the event.

Mike Weir of Bright's Grove, Ont., was four shots back thanks in large part to an ace at the par-3 fourth hole - the first he's ever recorded on the PGA Tour and the seventh so far during this tournament.
