GOLFERS TEE OFF AT ANGUS GLEN FOR OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

HAMILTON, Ont.- The University of Toronto and Angus Glen Golf Club play host to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) golf championships which is being held Monday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 20 in Markham, Ont. The 36-hole event welcomes golfers from across the province in the two-day championship, presented by mikeweir.com.

The women's regular season has been dominated by the Queen's Gaels, who swept every OUA tournament, going undefeated all season long. Hailey Ingleson (Oakville, Ont.) will be the one to watch in the championship; at the Western Invitational, she shot a five-over par 77 during the first leg and a three-over par 75 on the second day of play. In her first year of OUA golf, Ingleson has captured two gold medals and one silver.

Ingleson's teammate Casey Ward (Picton, Ont.) has also put on a stellar performance, posting a four-over par 76 at the McMaster Invitational, to round out the team's undefeated season.

Another key player to watch in the women's event will be Waterloo's Tiffany Terrier (Kingston, Jamaica), who earned the gold medal at the Waterloo Invitational after shooting a five-over par 112 in the 27-hole tournament. She also placed in nearly every other event, including third at the Queen's Invitational, third at the Western Invitational at Sunningdale Golf Club and second overall at the St. Thomas Invitational.

The men's event will be a battle between Western and Waterloo, who completed the final event of the season in a tie. Western can look to Johnny Hall (Langton, Ont.) and Andrew Zanatta (London, Ont.) for a strong performance. Hall placed second at the Waterloo/Laurier Invitational with a two-day score of 144 and Zanatta with a 148.

But Western will have to contend with Waterloo, the same team that they finished in a deadlock for first with in the McMaster Invitational. Simon MacInnis (Etobicoke, Ont.) shot a seven-under par 72 at the Queen's Invitational, the second lowest score ever by a Warrior. At the same event, MacInnis helped his teammates to set the new team record of 281 (seven-under).

MacInnis will also have co-captain Jimmy Latta (St. Clements, Ont.) to help. Clement shot a 72 at the McMaster event, and four-under at the Western Invitational for the gold medal. The Waterloo men will look to recapture the championship they've won three times since 2003-04.

The competition will take place on the South Course of Angus Glen, which has hosted some of the best professional golf players, including the 2001 Canadian Women's Open won by Annika Sörenstam, and the 2002 Canadian Open won by John Rollins.
