Canadians struggle on fifth day at PGA Q-School

The six day marathon known as PGA Tour Q-School has now come down to 18 holes for four of the eight Canadians left in the field in their quest for a 2012 card.

It was not a good day for Ryan Yip, Stuart Anderson, Brad Fritsch and Adam Hadwin as they all slipped down the leaderboard and slipped outside the magic top 25 necessary for securing full playing rights next season.

The biggest fall came from Hadwin. The Abbotsford, B.C., golfer, who started the day tied for 41st, struggled down the stretch with three bogeys over his final four holes to leave him with a 75 and in a tie for 92nd. He sits seven strokes outside of the top 25 cut line heading into Monday's final round.

Calgary's Yip, who was the only one of the four safely within the top 25 when the day began, could only muster a 73 which dropped him into a tie for 42nd. The good news is he's just three strokes out of winning his Tour card.

For the second straight day, Anderson carded a 73 to fall 23 spots into a tie for 53rd. The Sooke, B.C., golfer will need to find four strokes over his final 18 holes if he's to secure his PGA Tour card for the first time.

Fritsch had three birdies and two bogeys for a round of 71 to also leave him tied for 53rd.

The remaining four golfers all have some major work in front of them if they hope to call the PGA Tour home next season.

Calgarly's James Love improved from his disastrous 77 on Saturday to carded a 71, which leaves him 11 shots out of the top 25.

Richard Scott of Kingsville, Ont., posted his first sub-70 round of the week, a 69, but that still leaves him 13 strokes out.

Mitch Gillis of Williams Lake, B.C., is tied for 150th after posting his best round of the week, even par 72 and Richard T. Lee of Vancouver is tied for 157th after shooting 77.
