PGA TOUR Qualifying School

04 Dec 2002 - 09 Dec 2002

Jim Rutledge of Victoria, BC and Winnipeg, Manitoba native Rob McMillan are the only Canadian's to graduate to the finals of the PGA TOUR Qualifying School. The finals will be played Dec. 4-9 at the PGA West Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course, La Quinta, Calif. The low 35 scores and ties at the finals receive PGA TOUR playing privileges for 2003. The next 50 finishers, or those nearest 50 after the 35 and ties, will earn full exempt status on the Nationwide (formerly Buy.com) Tour. The rest in the starting field of 171 will become non-exempt members of the Nationwide Tour.

Jim Rutledge finished tied for 66th, after a final round 67 while Rob McMillan shot 73 to finish tied for 113th after final round play at PGA Q-school in La Quinta, California. Both will play on the Nationwide Tour next season. Rutledge will have full exemption on the Nationwide Tour and McMillan will have conditional status. American Jeff Brehaut won the tournament with 16-under total after a final-round 73. Thirty-eight golfers earned their PGA Tour cards, including Canadian Tour veterans Chris Anderson, Aaron Barber and Mike Grob.
