This week the EDS Byron Nelson Championship and next weeks TOUR stop the Bank of America Colonial are near my home town of Dallas, Texas, which means I get to sleep in my own bed instead of a hotel room! It’s a nice break when you are on the road for so much of the year and I always enjoy spending time at home and with friends during this swing of the TOUR.

The Bryson Nelson is hosted on two outstanding courses: Cottonwood Valley and the Four Season TPC. Both courses are in immaculate shape this year. Cottonwood Valley is not a very difficult course by Tour standards, however strong Texas winds always makes the course more challenging and puts an emphasis on proper club selection.

The Four Seasons TPC course but will play longer than Cottonwood. The par 70 TPC is 7,017 yards and seems to set up well for Mike. Some of the characteristics of the courses in Texas are the Bermuda grass fairways and the bentgrass greens, which is something that all Tour players have to learn to adjust to. The keys to success at the TPC course are the par 4’s where accurate iron play is very important.

Mike has some positives to draw on coming off a good putting week at the Wachovia, and is working hard to tighten up his swing.

My prediction for this weeks winning score is 19-under par.
