Overall, Friday was a better day for me, but it just wasn’t enough. I played well and really thought I could have posted a low score, maybe a 65 or 66, but Augusta National played tough in the second round and I was generally pleased with my score of 70.

I thought I might be able to just plug away and somehow find a way to get things going and I was really close to shooting a low round. My ball striking was much better and I had a little rhythm out there for the first time in a few days.

I kept thinking about last year when Ernie shot 79-66 and was right back in there. At Augusta National, anything is possible. I think that’s why they have a 10-shot rule for making the cut, because you can come from that far back and still win the tournament.

But to be honest, my all around game hasn’t been sharp of late, and even though it was better on Friday, I know I need to tune some things up a little better.

After this round, however, I’m feeling a little more positive about things.

I’ll stay around Augusta now and complete my official duties as champion when I present the new winner with his jacket. With the exception of my scorecard, it’s been a great week here, a week I’ll never forget. And perhaps the best part of it all is that I know I’ll be able to come back every year to enjoy this wonderful place and all it has to offer.

As always, thanks for your support.
